The blueberry yogurt smoothie recipe combines frozen blueberries, plain yogurt, chia seeds, orange juice, and dates for a delicious, satisfying smoothie. Orange juice and yogurt add the perfect tang and refreshing flavors to complement the antioxidant rich blueberries, which are among the best fruits for an anti-inflammation diet.

Blueberries are among the top antioxidant-rich fruits and contain powerful anthocyanins that have many health benefits, including improving liver health and insulin sensitivity, and even enhancing fat burning. This anti inflammation blueberry yogurt smoothie ticks all the boxes when it comes to making a great tasting, gut friendly, and healthy smoothie.

I added chia seeds as they are a great source of healthy fats, including the essential omega-3 fats, plus they are high in fiber and protein to help provide satiety and longer lasting energy levels. This blueberry smoothie with chia seeds is a great way to naturally support optimal liver health while leaving you feeling light yet satisfied.

The vibrant, antioxidant rich blueberry yogurt smoothie blends just four simple ingredients into a creamy, tangy, and gut friendly smoothie. Packed with fiber, plant protein, and essential nutrients, it is perfect for busy mornings or a quick, healthy afternoon snack.

Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups frozen blueberries
  • ¾ cup plain yogurt
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 2 dates

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a Vitamix blender.
  2. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  3. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately.

Tips and Substitutions

If you prefer a vegan blueberry smoothie simply switch the plain yogurt for a plant based yogurt such as soy, almond or coconut. I personally love using my own homemade soy yogurt in this smoothie as it yields a delicious tangy and creamy texture.

For more healthy fats and a slightly thicker texture, add an extra tablespoon of chia seeds.

If this smoothie inspires you, go ahead and save the pin image below so you can blend it up whenever you need a nourishing boost.

Fun Fact: Blueberries are naturally rich in manganese, which is one reason they are such a great addition to smoothies and anti inflammation diets. Manganese is the cofactor for the SOD enzyme, which is one of your body’s top antioxidant enzymes to reduce free radicals and protect the body from oxidative stress.
